Tobago man shot dead
A Tobago man identified as N’kosi “Fari Dan” Bovell, 28, was shot dead while liming at a bar in Tobago on Sunday night.
Police said shortly before 9 pm, Bovell was with a group of friends outside Dutch Fort Restaurant and Bar in Scarborough when he was shot several times by two shooters who approached him from behind.
The killing was captured on CCTV footage.
Bovell’s father, Curtis, said he did not know if his son was involved in any actual gang but confirmed that in his music, he portrayed full recognition of the Sixx gang. He, however, firmly believed that his son, one of three, was killed because of the friends he kept.
“My son grew up in Bethel, and as he got older, he decided to move to Trinidad, where he lived at Moruga, Laventille and Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain. His music, which he was in for more than three years, promoted guns and violence, but I don’t know if he was any part of any gang, but yes, he threw his support behind the Sixx gang,” Curtis said.
He added that besides his music career, his son was interested in the culinary arts and provided part-time service as a tutor at a government primary school in Tobago.
Police suspect the killing was gang-related.
