Trini Blu Lyon hits #1 spot on Reggae iTunes with 'Walk with the Vybz’
Trinibad recording artiste Blu Lyon is thrilled that his latest release, 'Walk With The Vybz', briefly topped the iTunes Reggae chart after its online release in July.
"I was somewhat surprised and wondered what it meant for my career. It's a significant accomplishment, but I was focused on what came next, because 'Walk With The Vybz' is a chart-worthy song that sold well in terms of pure album sales," he said.
The song has since consistently ranked in the top 10 on the iTunes Reggae chart.
"The lyric video for 'Walk With The Vybz' is also available on YouTube and has been streaming well. The song has been featured on several mixtapes in New York City and frequently played at backyard parties in New York. It's also been spinning at Lagos NYC club in Manhattan," he added.
Blu Lyon has performances scheduled at SOBs on August 22 and Hot 97 DJ Magic's car show in September.
He has actively promoted his single "Bu$$ Fare" since January, which, along with its counterpart 'Hidden Fees', has sparked interest and unease as he addresses unethical business practices in the dancehall industry and names those responsible.
Born to Trinidadian soca star Austin 'Superblue' Lyons, Blu Lyon spent his early years in the United States before being raised in Trinidad. He is a staunch advocate of dancehall music, representing the emerging genre of 'Trinibad'.
