Trinidadian man arrested for entering the US Virgin Islands illegally
A Trinidadian man had pled guilty to entering the United States illegally when he appeared before a US Virgin Islands District Court judge earlier this week.
On April 8, 2021, Allan Browne was arrested at the Cyril E King Airport, St Thomas, attempting to clear a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) primary inspection checkpoint to board an American Airlines flight to Miami, Florida.
During the inspection, Gretchen Shappert, the United States Attorney for the Virgin Islands, reported that Browne presented a Pennsylvania driver’s license bearing the name “Antonio S Brown” and a date of birth, neither of which belonged to him.
She claimed he was asked if he was a US citizen or legal permanent resident, to which he replied that he was a legal resident. When asked to present his proof of residency, he told CBP agents that he did not have it with him.
Browne was fingerprinted, and it revealed that he did not have a legal right to be in the United States and was deported from the country last year after he was convicted of another illegal entry.
