Turks and Caicos: Double murder under investigation

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Serious Crime Unit (RTCIPF) is investigating the shooting deaths of two men in Five Cays, Providenciales.

Head of Crime, Safeguarding and Public Protection Superintendent Dean Holden said at 6.31 am on Friday, November 17, police received a call reporting the discovery of two bodies on a track located off Five Cays Road in Five Cays in the vicinity of the Coastal Radar Station.

He said: “Officers attended and confirmed that there were two deceased males; an initial investigation suggests that they may have died as a result of gunshot wounds. A double murder investigation has been launched with a dedicated team of detectives. At this stage, several lines of inquiry are being followed, but the motive for the killings remains uncertain. Initial investigations have determined the identity of both men. However, their details will not be released until all available family members have been informed.”

Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams was also at the scene and, in expressing condolences to relatives of the deceased, said: “To the families, friends, and loved ones, I wish to say that your loss saddens us. Even though sorry will not bring your loved ones back, I empathise with you. The tears you shed today also wet our faces”.

Adams further added: “Investigations into the murders of your loved ones are ongoing, and we continue in our sustained efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Again, I call on persons in our communities who have information on this homicide or other criminal behaviours to contact us”.
