Turks and Caicos records second road fatality
One man died in the Turks and Caicos following a vehicular accident along the Millennium Highway, Blue Hills, Providenciales.
An initial police report stated at around 1:14 am; the Police Control Room received a call that a road accident had occurred. The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and fire officers were dispatched to a location in the vicinity of Chicken Shack.
Two vehicles – an SUV and a single- motor car were seen when officers arrived; The SUV contained several individuals whose airbags were deployed and were alive. The occupants were rushed to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where they received medical attention.
The other vehicle was overturned, and its male driver was lifeless.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams, in extending condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, said: “It is very unfortunate that once again, the TCI has lost a life on our roadways. The responsibility of safe driving is a serious issue that cannot be ignored. As a result, we continue to urge the public to be vigilant, responsible, and law-abiding when using the roadways. We also ask that motorists use their seatbelts”.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit is continuing investigations.
