Two men charged with sexual assault in Guyana
Two men have been charged with separate sexual assaults in Guyana.
In the first incident, Dhudnauth “Ramesh” Parbattie, a 66-year-old labourer of Suddie Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was charged with the offence of sexual assault on a woman. The alleged sexual assault occurred in October 2023.
He pleaded not guilty, and bail was granted in the sum of GYD$50,000.
Parbattie has to report to the Suddie Police Station every Monday at 9 am.
In the second incident, Kervin Gordon, a 47-year-old farmer of Henrietta on Essequibo Coast, was charged with the offence of 'Sexual Activity with a Child Family Member.'
Gordon appeared virtually last week at the Suddie Magistrate's Court, where the charge was read to him, and he was not required to plea.
He was placed on GYD$300,000 bail.
Both cases were adjourned to March 1, 2024.
