US Congress delegation heads to T&T
A delegation of US congress members lands in Trinidad today to join US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as the Caricom heads of government meeting. Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries heads the bipartisan Congressional delegation, according to a statement on his website. The delegation expects to meet with government representatives and other civil society leaders.
The discussion topics surround regional security, economic growth, the climate crisis and energy.
“Today, our bipartisan Congressional delegation will travel to Trinidad and Tobago. While there, the delegation will meet with Caribbean leaders to discuss pressing economic and geopolitical issues in the Western Hemisphere. The Congressional delegation will also reaffirm the strong partnership between the United States and our Caribbean neighbours. The trip builds upon the important work the Biden-Harris administration has undertaken in the region," Jeffries said.
