US Virgin Islands drops indoor mask mandate
Governor Albert Bryan has further relaxed coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions on the US Virgin Islands as he announced today that masks will no longer be required indoors when persons are accessing commercial and government services.
The policy, which goes into effect immediately does not apply to schools, ports of entry and health care facilities as the governor said they are still evaluating the situation before removing the mask mandate for these locations.
“All good work deserves a reward,” the governor said as he thanked citizens and public servants.
Two weeks ago, the governor relaxed the mask requirement for vaccinated persons attending events organised by the Department of Health and for customers seated inside and outside of a restaurant or bar.
Bryan and Health Commissioner Justa Encarnacion stressed that the pandemic is not over and urged people to wear masks in situations where they feel their health is at risk.
