Ways You Can Physically Prepare Your Body for Birth(3/3)
You don't run a race without training; you don't take a test without studying (ok, most of the time you don't); you don't have a wedding without planning... so why would you have a baby without preparing?
It is true that labour and birth is a normal, routine, and expected event for pregnant people, and it can and does happen without planning, preparation, training, or guidance of any sort.
And also...
When you intentionally prepare your body for labour and birth, you can have more strength, stamina, flexibility, alignment, and a better overall experience. Who wouldn't want that?! Here are the last 2 things you can do to make your birth experience that much easier.
Get lots of rest
Consider that labour will be a marathon, not a sprint. Your body needs to rest, heal, and prepare. Resting supports all of the physical structures of your body, as well as your mental and emotional states. Towards the end of your pregnancy, you may even feel more inclined to rest or to stay in—listen to that voice. You are your greatest guide.
Know you can do it
Remember that you can do this—pregnancy, birth, motherhood, all of it. You have a capacity beyond what you already know and understand, and you can trust that. Birth is full of transitions, and the biggest of all is you becoming a mother. You won’t just birth with your body, and you will birth with your entire being.
Support yourself holistically by taking care of all of the parts of yourself. Remember that being strong isn’t always about doing and being more; sometimes, strength comes through surrender, allowing something new to occur. You are strong. You are capable. You are ready.
