Woman sexually assaulted around Queen’s Park Savannah, T&T
Police are looking for a driver who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman from Laventille around the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain.
The victim, 26, sought help from a security officer as she attempted to hide from her attacker when she escaped.
According to a police report, around 1 am on Wednesday, the woman boarded a silver Mitsubishi Lancer and asked to be taken to Henry Street, Independence Square.
However, the woman told police that the driver allegedly held onto her hand and continued to drive to the Queen’s Park Savannah, where he stopped near White Hall.
A security officer told the driver he could not park there, and the driver moved but drove around the Savannah and then stopped behind a coconut cart near the Queen’s Royal College, where he began to assault the woman.
Police said the woman eventually escaped and ran along St Clair Avenue, where she hid in a Carnival Committee security booth.
A security officer who saw her assisted her and took her to the police station, where she lodged a report.
The woman was subsequently taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where she was medically attended to.
Police said the woman is highly traumatised but is assisting them in their investigations.
Meanwhile, police are asking members of the public who may have seen anything that morning to come forward with the information by contacting them on 555, 999, 800 TIPS or the TTPS App.
