Woman struck by stray bullet in Sint Maarten
Police in Sint Maarten are investigating a shooting incident which left a woman injured after she was struck in the face by a stray bullet over the weekend.
According to the St Maarten Police Force, several calls were received around 1:30 am on July 29 about a shooting incident near an entertainment establishment in the Beacon Hill area.
Upon arrival, the police patrol was informed that a fight had broken out among several male individuals. After the fight, one of the involved individuals retrieved a gun and fired several shots.
An innocent female bystander was struck in the face by a stray bullet. Due to the severity of her injuries, she had to be taken to hospital for further medical treatment. Her condition is currently described as serious but stable.
The suspects managed to flee the scene before the arrival of the police patrol, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Detectives and forensic officers collected evidence from the crime scene to determine the exact sequence of events.
The police force is appealing to the general public and anyone present during the incident to contact the police or detective department and provide any information regarding this case.
