Alleged robbers shot and killed by licensed firearm holder in St James
Two men who allegedly tried to rob a taxi driver and his passengers in Greenwood, St James on Saturday night, were shot dead by a licensed firearm holder.
Reports from the Montego Bay police are that at about 10:15 pm, the unidentified men, posing as passengers, boarded the taxi - which plies the Montego Bay to Falmouth, Trelawny route.
On reaching a section of the Greenwood main road in the parish, the men, who were sitting behind the driver, requested a stop.
One of the men then pulled a firearm and placed it at the driver’s head. The licensed firearm holder, who was sitting next to both men, saw what was happening and pulled his licensed firearm.
A tussle ensued and both men were shot.
A Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing five 9mm rounds was retrieved.
Both would-be robbers were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
