Antigua: Police investigate suspected drowning
An investigation has been launched to determine what led to the death of a 23-year-old man at Pigeon Point Beach in Antigua and Barbuda.
Jahmali Smith’s body was found last evening in the water shortly after being reported missing by family.
The Swetes resident had gone to the beach to hang out with friends.
Smith’s loved ones took to social media to express their grief and blast the friends he was last seen with.
“Granny used to say, ‘Friends will take you, but they won’t bring you back. This is not just drowning; I know they did something to Marlie. I’m praying that justice is served,” one woman commented.
Another woman commented: “Some people in this place are too wicked. You all took Jahmali from his home, carried him to the beach, and didn’t have the decency to call the police for help? This could never be right. I hope they find these demons and put them where they need to be.”
An autopsy on Smith’s body is to be complete this week.
