Bahamas: Man placed on probation after inappropriately touching a 16-year-old girl
A man who inappropriately touched his friend’s 16-year-old daughter has been placed on probation for 18 months and ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.
Dwayne “Bossman” Mortimer, 46, pleaded guilty to indecent assault before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
On April 14, 2020, the incident happened at the victim’s home in New Providence when her mother was not there.
The girl was home alone with her younger brother when Mortimer stopped by.
The children let him inside.
While there, Mortimer pulled the teen onto his lap and started tickling her on the stomach before he started to caress her breasts.
The girl said Mortimer’s actions made her feel “nasty and uncomfortable”.
She said she pulled away and told Mortimer that she needed to start dinner.
However, Mortimer followed the child into the kitchen and grabbed her from behind, and once again touched and squeezed her breasts.
Then he told the teenager that he had something to show her but would only do it “when she could keep a secret”.
If Mortimer breaches his probation, he will have to pay a $1,500 fine to avoid spending six months in prison.
Inspector Timothy Bain was prosecuted, and Ryszard Humes represented Mortimer.
