Bermuda reaches COVID-19 vaccination milestone
About a third of Bermudians have received their second and third doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
Minister of Health Kim Wilson revealed this data in her weekly COVID-19 update.
“This is good news, as vaccinations are the best way to fight the coronavirus, protect our community and save lives,” Wilson stated.
The territory has been able to distribute 3,868 doses of the BioNTech original adult formulation, Moderna Bivalent and Pfizer-BioNTech paediatric from a shipment it received in September 2022.
Wilson is encouraging islanders to visit their doctor or a local pharmacy to receive booster shots or a test to determine their COVID status.
She has urged both islanders and visitors to remain vigilant and protest themselves from becoming infected with the flu, coronavirus or Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and other respiratory diseases prevalent during colder weather.
Wilson stated: “The coronavirus is still with us; although under better control, it is still a threat, and we must remain vigilant. Sadly, we have had coronavirus-related deaths, and I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends who recently lost their loved ones. I strongly encourage all eligible individuals should get the coronavirus vaccination and get boosted on time.”
Data released by the Ministry of Health showed 38 active COVID-19 cases on the island.
