Cuba and Spain sign collaboration agreement on legal issues
The delivery of computer equipment and support in the processing of consular matters are some of the aspects included in a deal signed today in Havana between the Ministry of Justice of Cuba (Minjus) and the Association of Administrative Managers of Spain.
Oscar Silvera Martinez, Cuban minister of justice, highlighted this as an opportunity to deepen exchanges and share procedures and positive experiences to provide a better service to the population.
Silvera Martinez stressed the importance of learning from the progress made in this field in that Iberian nation and identifying those practices applicable to the Cuban context as regards the computerisation of records and processes.
He pointed out that the agreement reflects the willingness of both parties to walk these paths together to achieve greater solidity and proximity in relations.
This progress pursues the additional objective of contributing to the improvement of Cuban jurists and reinforcing security and transparency in the management of processing, he added.
For his part, Fernando Santiago Ollero, president of the General Council of the Association of Administrative Managers of Spain, stressed that the achievement of the agreement was possible thanks to the goodwill of both parties, who believed in the project's viability at all times.
The agreement contains the conviction that through professional dialogue, it will be possible to reduce significantly the burden of formalities, which are often cumbersome for those involved, and to extend cooperation to other areas of interest, he added.
Rosabel Gamon Verde attended the meeting, first deputy minister of justice; Pilar Estrada Varona, deputy minister of justice; Lilia Maria Hernandez Doejo, president of the National Board of Directors of the National Organization of Collective Law Firms, and Jose Alexis Ginarte Gato, president of the National Association of Jurists of Cuba, along with authorities and advisors of the Spanish entity.
