Haitian President issued a severe warning regarding the Covid-19 crisis
Haitian President Jovenel Moïse warned Tuesday about the serious increased coronavirus infection situation his country currently faces and ordered the health emergency state once again.
According to Moïse, the first infection rise was reported from March to July 2020, followed by another increase past December. The increased case toll reported during this month makes the nation more fragile.
President Moïse recalled that new coronavirus strains coming from Brazil and UK are today spreading across the country and pointed out that Haiti is facing a third wave of coronavirus with several collapsed hospitals.
‘This means that (the third wave) arrived with these variants that are more contagious and kill people faster,’ the president said during his speech to the nation aired on social networks and local television stations.
Likewise, Jovenel Moïse called for all of Haiti´s sectors to collaborate on overcoming the spread of the coronavirus, on a day in which health authorities confirmed the highest toll of positive cases in just one day since the beginning of the pandemic.
