JetBlue begins service to Belize
JetBlue Airlines’ began its non-stop service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Belize yesterday.
Flight JBU2781 landed at Belize’s Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport just after midday with over 100 passengers.
A ceremony was held to welcome passengers and crew of the inaugural service, which Belizean American Jeffery Smith piloted.
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, celebrated the airlines’ arrival in the Belizean market, saying it will significantly impact the travel and leisure sector.
Mahler said the work begins to ensure “the load factors are to where [Jetblue] finds it comfortable” to keep or expand the route.
The service operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays on an Airbus A320.
Flights leave New York at 8:29 am and arrive in Belize at 12:15 pm.
The return leg takes off at 1:30 pm and arrives at 7 pm.
