Nine people charged with terrorism in Guyana
Nine men were granted bail in the sum of GY$ 2.7 million after they appeared in court on Monday charged with terrorism.
The accused are Julian Jason Peters, 30, a vendor of Victoria Village; Phillip Burke, 35, a Contractor of Section ‘C’ Golden Grove; Mark Hercules, 54, of Enmore North; Anthony English, 28, of Golden Grove; Terrence Adolphus Nedd, 29, of Nabaclis; Teon Glasgow, 27, of David Street Golden Grove; Tony Mc Kinnon, 52, of Golden Grove; Carlos Kingston, 40, of Golden Grove; and David Berkshire, 44, of Nabaclis.
The Guyana Police Force said the men were charged with Acts of Terrorism, contrary to Section 109 (A) (1) (b) (ii) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act Chapter 8:01.
They all appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court #2 on Monday before Magistrate Alisha George, where the charge was read to them.
They were not required to plea, and bail was granted for $300,000 each, with conditions to lodge their passports and report every fortnight.
