St. Kitts and Nevis COVID-19 Positive Cases Continue to Spiral
St. Kitts and Nevis have quickly skyrocketed from the country with the least active COVID-19 coronavirus cases to the country with the most active cases within the past two months.
According to the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) report, dated Monday, June 21, St. Kitts and Nevis have the most active cases (265) and highest number of new cases (62) within the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The results given were as of Friday, June 18.
The ECCU report shows a total of 91 new cases within the Eastern Caribbean, of which St. Kitts and Nevis has 62, St. Lucia 17, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines 12. St. Kitts and Nevis, the smallest independent Caribbean nation, continues to lead, by a huge margin, in new cases.
Tuesday, June 22, the twin-island Federation had amassed an additional 27 new cases, which have taken the number of active cases up to 289. The total number of cases was 377, with 85 persons recovered. St. Kitts, the larger of the two islands, has 362 cases and Nevis 15. The Covid-19 related deaths have now increased to 3 within the past 3 days.
It appears the community spread is currently spiralling out of control for the twin islands of St. Kitts and Nevis.
