St Kitts & Nevis police sound alarm about dangerous driving
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) said it is deeply concerned about the number and frequency of traffic accidents in the country.
RSCNPF reported the country recorded two road fatalities in the last month.
Kenrick T Phillip, of Stonefort Estate, died at the hospital on July 2, two weeks after he was injured in an accident in Conyers.
On July 3, Joneal Sprouse of Middle Island died following an accident in the vicinity of the solar farm on Frigate Bay Road.
Police said most of the accidents recorded in recent years occurred due to speeding and reckless driving.
“We continue to implore drivers and motorists to exercise adequate vigilance and extreme care while driving. Speed has never been and will never be a solution for lateness. It will also never guarantee safe arrival at your destination of choice,” RSCNPF said.
“We owe it to each other to conduct ourselves at all times in a manner that protects and respects the safety, security, and peace of mind of others”.
RSCNPF said it would increase its presence on the nation’s roads to ensure drivers follow the law.
