Man who stole a boat in Antigua and illegally entered St. Kitts has been found
On Tuesday 11th May 2021 at about 10:30 am, St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force received information about a fishing vessel that docked at Lime Kiln Bay, Basseterre, and an individual with a suitcase was seen by villagers exiting the vessel and running off into the Lime Kiln Village area.
The St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard, Police, and Defence Force Units responded to the scene after being alerted and found the abandoned vessel on the beach. The surrounding area was searched but no one was found. The vessel was taken into custody by the St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard.
Superintendent Cromwell Henry, a member of the St. Kitts-Nevis National COVID_19 Taskforce, announced the breach on the Federation’s regular COVID-19 briefings on Wednesday 12th May 2021.
He stated, “Our investigation so far has revealed that the vessel was stolen in Antigua the night before. This has led us to believe that the individual possibly came from Antigua. We are well aware of the COVID-19 situation in Antigua, with respect to community spread. This has raised concern for us as we do not know the COVID-19 status of this person who has now integrated into our society.”
David Frederick Smith, the man who allegedly stole the boat in Antigua, was found in the Buckley’s area of the capital Basseterre and arrested yesterday Thursday 13th May. It is stated that Mr. Smith is originally from St. Kitts but lived in Antigua for over 3 years.
Mr. Smith is said to have been recently released on bail as he is allegedly facing several charges in Court in Antigua.
He apparently has been tested for COVID-19 and the results came back negative. He is currently in quarantine.
