Thousands took to the street today in Haiti in an Anti-Government protest.

Frustrations are high in Haiti as protestors swarmed the streets in thousands against the Haitian government’s inability to meet the basic needs of its people, resolve long-standing human rights problems, and addressing humanitarian crises.
Citizens are accusing the government of supporting gangs in order to remain in power and are demanding that the President step down. However, President Jovenel Moïse, refuses to step down. According tot he New York Times he said “I am not a dictator. My term ends February 7, 2022.”
In fear of being kidnapped and robbed of what little cash they have, residents have been locking themselves in. Schools have been closed down, not because of the pandemic, but in an effort to pretect the children and teachers from the gangs.
Haiti’s judiciary branch sided with the opposition, a group of activists, politicians and religious leaders, and ruled that Mr. Moïse’s has ended.
