USVI man charged for 2019 shooting
Mario Magras has been placed on unmonitored 24-hour house arrest after he appeared in court yesterday charged for a 2019 shooting.
The Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George announced that they filed ten charges against Magras, including first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, mayhem, unauthorised possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, discharging or aiming guns, first-degree reckless endangerment, and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
According to an affidavit filed by the AG’s office, police officers were dispatched to the scene of a shooting at the David Hamilton Jackson Terrace Housing Community on September 6, 2019.
Four victims sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies.
Police processed the crime scene to include a 4-door grey Acura TSX vehicle and weapons, among other items.
A DNA warrant was signed and issued for DNA swabs which allegedly revealed that Magras could not be excluded as a contributor of the items that were listed and swabbed from the vehicle.
V I Superior Court Judge Donohue granted Magras $100,000 bail with permission to post 10 per cent, and he was ordered to remain in his home in St Croix with an exception for him to attend work.
