Bahamas: Murder accused said other prisoners are attacking him
A man charged with a revenge murder yesterday begged a magistrate to help him get out of prison.
Brandon Evans made the impassioned plea when he appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville to receive a voluntary bill of indictment for the October 7 shooting murder of Andy Johnson.
Johnson, on bail for December 2, 2019, shooting the death of Brian Evans, was killed after a gunman shot him while at the Blue Hill Road Farmer’s Market.
Since his remand, Evans said that he was being ganged in his cell and that his cellmates were taking advantage of him for his commissary.
Evans said, “Really and truly, I come to ask you if you could help me in some way to get me out of this prison. God knows it; I ain’t kill nobody. This really putting a big strain on me; I could barely sleep at night, and people taking advantage of me for my own set of things that my people put li’l money on the commissary for.”
Serville told Evans that, unfortunately, he could not consider bail for the offence.
Evans’ lawyer, Domek Rolle, said he would make a bail application in the Supreme Court.
